Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The Brain Cancer Research Alliance is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research into all types of brain tumors, including oligodendroglioma, astrocytoma, glioblastoma, and pediatric brain cancers. Our mission is to accelerate scientific discovery, improve patient outcomes, and provide hope to families impacted by brain cancer.

The mission of Brain Cancer Research Alliance (BCRA) is to raise the awareness and funding for brain cancer research, ultimately enabling new treatment options. Through partnerships with related industry and nonprofit organizations and coordinating fundraising events we aim to fuel our efforts and bring support to the brain cancer community. Our end goal is to change the treatment paradigm and help bring forward new treatments for brain cancer patients within the next decade.

The main goal of Brain Cancer Research Alliance is to find a cure for brain cancer through the alliance and partnership with several organizations focused on the pursuit of brain cancer research.

100% of donations directly support brain cancer research, scientific studies, and collaborative projects aimed at advancing treatments, improving survival rates, and ultimately finding cures.

BCRA donates money to causes that help brain cancer research and clinical studies. To date, BCRA has donated funds to the Evelyn F. & William L. McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Florida, National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. BCRA has an arrangement with both NBTS and Dana-Farber that 90% of donations will go to research and clinical studies and no more than 10% will go to their expenses.

Yes. BCRA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our EIN is 92-1409875.

BCRA gets its funds from donations, special community events and fundraisers. Currently, BCRA has no employees and all the work done is by volunteers. This keeps the expenses low, allowing us to donate the large majority of the funds we raise to good causes.

Absolutely! We encourage individuals, families, and companies to create fundraisers, organize events, or participate in corporate giving campaigns. Visit our Fundraise page to learn more.

Yes. We are proud to partner with several companies that offer matching gifts for their employees. Currently, Accenture, Google, and UnitedHealth Group (UHG) offer matching donations to Brain Cancer Research Alliance. Many other companies may also participate — check with your HR department to verify.

BCRA works with medical experts, researchers, and institutions to identify projects that demonstrate strong scientific potential, collaboration, and a focus on improving patient outcomes across multiple brain tumor types.

You can get involved in a couple of different ways: volunteer to help with one of the fundraisers or community events and/or make a donation to BCRA. You can also host your own fundraising event and BCRA can help provide guidance and advice to make it a success.
